  • Facial Beds and Esthetician Tables: How to Choose (2026 Buyer's Guide)

    Oct 1, 2026
Facial beds and esthetician tables buying guide, Modern Studio Supply

Your facial bed is the one piece of equipment every client touches and every service runs on. Buy too little and you fight it all day. Overbuy and the money is gone from the machines and stools you still need.

This guide is for estheticians, med spa owners and lash artists. It covers how the bed lifts, what each motor does, how to match the height range to your body, and which bed fits which service. Every product, spec and price comes from our facial beds and esthetician tables collection and the manufacturer's published figures. Where a spec is not published, we say so.

Prices as listed on modernstudiosupply.com, 1 Oct 2026.

    At a glance
    • Motor count sets the price. One motor raises the bed. Three or four motors add a powered backrest, legrest or seat tilt.
    • Facial beds and tables in our catalog run from $320 to $2,400. Electric lift starts at $800.
    • Measure yourself before you read a height range. The right bed puts the client's face where your hands already work.
    • Pay for memory presets only if more than one person uses the bed.

    Hydraulic vs electric facial beds

The lift type sets the price, the power needs and what can break.

    Fixed height

The SABLE has no motors and no levers. Its working height is fixed at 34.5 inches. It suits waxing and overflow work, and it is the cheapest table in the collection.

    Hydraulic

A hydraulic bed lifts without a motor or an outlet. The BETHANY goes from chair position to flat and has a 6-inch hydraulic height range. The trade-off is that 6 inches is less travel than any published electric range in our catalog.

    Electro-hydraulic

The Lazio uses electro-hydraulic height adjustment from a hand remote, with one motor, while the backrest moves with a manual lever. That is powered height at the lowest electric price in the range.

    Fully electric

The other beds in this guide, apart from the PARKER II recline chair, move on electric motors from a remote or hand controller. That costs more and needs an outlet. It is also the only route to memory presets: every facial bed in our catalog that stores positions is fully electric.

Motor count, and what each motor does

    Each motor drives one movement:

    • Height. Raises the client to your working height. This is the motor that protects your back.
    • Backrest. Sits the client up for a consultation, lays them flat for treatment.
    • Legrest or footrest. Positions the legs for waxing and body work.
    • Seat tilt or incline. Tilts the seat so a reclined client does not slide down.

One motor: the Lazio and the DOMINUS, a flat bed with electric lift. Three motors: the BENTON, for height, backrest and seat inclination. Four motors: the Massimo, Remi, Remi II, Renzo, Modena, Aria, Seville and Belvedere. The Remi II and Modena list seat tilt as its own motor.

    Where the money goes

If clients stay flat, powered height covers most of the work. If you sit clients up and lay them back several times a session, add a powered backrest. Seat tilt earns its place when clients spend a long time reclined.

Height range and your own working height

Measure where your hands sit when you work: standing at the side of the bed, and seated on your stool at the head for facials and lashes. The bed's range should reach both.

Published ranges in our catalog: the Aria and the Remi run from 24 to 38 inches, the widest published range we carry. The Renzo runs from 26 to 34 inches. The Seville runs from 67 to 84 cm, about 26.4 to 33 inches. The SABLE is fixed at 34.5 inches, and the BETHANY lists a 6-inch range. The other pages do not publish a range, so we do not quote one.

The pages do not say where height is measured, so ask us if an exact inch matters.

    Weight capacity

Published ratings in our range: the Massimo is rated to 450 lb, the highest in our electric line. The DOMINUS carries 440 lb. The SABLE, BETHANY and PARKER II are each rated to 300 lb. The other beds do not publish a capacity, and we will not estimate one.

    Memory presets

A memory preset stores a position, so one button returns the bed to it. Six beds in our catalog store three positions each: the Aria, Remi, Remi II, Renzo, Seville and Belvedere. The Aria and Remi add a lock function that blocks accidental adjustments, and a reset that returns the bed to its starting position.

Presets pay off in a room shared by several providers. A solo provider rarely needs them.

    Upholstery and cleaning

Treatment rooms deal with oil, wax and product all day, so look at seams first. The BENTON uses seamless PU upholstery, which leaves no stitching for product to work into. The PARKER II uses waterproof, scratch-resistant PVC leather. The SABLE has high-density sponge padding under PVC leather. The other pages do not name the material.

Follow the manufacturer's care instructions, and check that your disinfectant is safe on the surface you buy.

    Which bed fits which service

    • Facials. Any bed in the facial bed collection works face-up. A powered backrest helps if each facial starts with a seated consultation.
    • Waxing. The SABLE, Modena, BETHANY and PARKER II pages all list waxing. Wipeable upholstery matters most here.
    • Lash extensions. Clients lie flat for a long appointment while you sit at the head, so powered height brings the client to you. The Modena page lists lash work among its services, and our lash beds collection holds the Lazio, Modena, DOMINUS and SABLE.
    • Massage and body work. The Lazio has a built-in face hole for face-down treatments, and the BETHANY and PARKER II have a face cutout under the pillow. For dedicated massage rooms, see our massage tables.
    • Med spa rooms. The Aria's page describes it for injectors and rooms shared by several providers, and the BENTON page lists cosmetic injections. Your medical director decides what a procedure room needs. See the full med spa equipment range.
    • Head spa. Head spa services add a wash basin and water, which makes them a different purchase. See our head spa beds and the head spa equipment guide.

Prices as listed on modernstudiosupply.com, 1 Oct 2026. Specs are the manufacturer's published figures from each product page. Where two prices show, the price depends on color: BENTON $1,216 in black and $1,280 in white; Modena $1,200 in white and $1,900 in black, dark grey or taupe; Renzo $2,021.60 in white and $2,128 in other colors.

    Room size and power

Published footprints: the SABLE is 72.83 by 25.6 inches, the DOMINUS is 71.25 inches long overall, and the BETHANY lists 47 by 32.5 inches. Add your working space: a stool at the head, a trolley within reach, and room to walk around the foot. Tape the outline on the floor and walk through a full appointment.

For power, we do not give electrical advice. Here is what to settle with your electrician:

    • Where the bed will stand, so an outlet ends up beside it and no cord crosses your path.
    • The voltage of the model you order. The DOMINUS is listed at 110 to 240V. The other pages here do not publish a voltage, so ask us first.
    • Everything else on that wall, such as a steamer or towel warmer.

The SABLE and BETHANY have no motor and need no outlet. To price the whole room, try the salon build-out cost calculator.

    Our picks by use

These picks come from the spec sheets, not from sales figures.

    • Booth or suite with no outlet nearby: the BETHANY at $492. Hydraulic height, chair to flat, rated to 300 lb.
    • Solo esthetician who also does body work: the Lazio at $800. Powered height plus a face hole for face-down work.
    • Every client, no capacity worries: the Massimo at $1,596, rated to 450 lb with four motors.
    • Lash, facials and waxing on one bed: the Modena, four motors including seat angle. $1,900, or $1,200 in white.
    • Shared med spa room: the Aria at $2,240: 24 to 38 inches, three presets and a lock.
    • A room where the bed should look like furniture: the Belvedere at $2,400, on a dual-column wooden base.
    • Two treatment rooms at once: the Med Spa Build-Out Package at $4,795: two Modena tables plus machines, stools, trolleys and sanitation.

    Common questions

What is the difference between a facial bed and an esthetician table?

Mostly the name. Facial bed, esthetician bed, spa bed and treatment table describe the same equipment, and treatment table is the broadest term. Compare the specs, not the label.

Is an electric facial bed worth it over a hydraulic one?

It is if you adjust the bed often. The hydraulic BETHANY needs no outlet but lists a 6-inch height range. Electric beds move from a remote, and in our catalog only electric beds store memory presets. Electric lift starts at $800 with the Lazio.

What height should a facial bed be?

There is no single right number. Measure where your hands sit when you work, standing and seated, and choose a bed whose range reaches both. The Aria and Remi publish the widest range we carry, 24 to 38 inches.

Can I use a facial bed for lash extensions?

Yes. A lash client lies flat for the whole appointment, and powered height lets you work seated. The Modena product page lists lash work among its services, and our lash beds collection holds the Lazio, Modena, DOMINUS and SABLE.

How much does a professional facial bed cost?

In our catalog, facial beds and tables run from $320 for the fixed-height SABLE to $2,400 for the four-motor Belvedere. Prices as listed on modernstudiosupply.com, 1 Oct 2026.

How much is freight on facial beds?

Freight is calculated at checkout based on your delivery ZIP code, and we deliver across the contiguous US. Plan for a second person to help move the bed inside.
